You might know her as “Tashi” from the infamous zbc drama “Amakorokoza” which once graced our screens years ago. Truth is Sarah Mpofu is a credible business woman who has built herself a modelling agency & prosperous hair salon popularly known as Fingers Hair Salon.
Fingers modelling academy established in 1989 is a platform set up to groom & nature young girls aspiring to be professional models who in the past have won in the Miss Zimbabwe contest. Their catalogue is filthy rich having produced & hosted past events like:
- Miss Bulawayo
- Miss Zimbabwe
- Miss Big & beautiful
The 7th of April 2018 was the graduation day of the first-class of 2018 models in the Fingers Modelling academy. Held at the Fingers hair salon along Fife street & 10th avenue. Among the attendants was the current Mr. Zimbabwe Shadel Noble who happens to be a product of Fingers Modelling Academy.
As expected from a woman of such integrity & experience, the stage set up was marvelous & so was the lighting (Events promoters please take notes). The women were looking dazzling parading the walkway like church hypocrites showing off their outfits during free will offering. On nights like these is when you get to witness Bulawayo’s glitz & glam scene, as the divas crawl out for the camera in their designer outfits, in isiNdebele we say abantu bayageza phandle la. Later we were joined by the famous comedian &” Ndebele rockstar” Mr Babongile Skhonjwa.
The host was none other than Austin Moyo who did a marvelous job keeping the crowd entertained. The panel of judges had among them the beautiful Nokuthaba Manongo.
The models class of 2018 comprised of 10 contestants namely
1.Linda Tanya Ncube
2.Musawenkosi Bertha Dube
Our Presenter Siphephile Ngwenya had the chance to interview some of the guests and contestants on camera.
The crown was awarded to “Natasha” followed by
- 2nd runner up “Caroline Ngwenya”.
- First runner up: Patience Chingwanda
- Most promising graduate: Linda Ncube
To add more accolades to Fingers Modelling Academy, Sarah Mpofu was awarded a license to host Miss Tourism Zimbabwe in 2018. We look forward to attend the event & give a report of all its happenings. A common phrase in isiNdebele is “ukwanda kwaliwa ngabathakathi”. We would like to thank Mrs. Sarah Mpofu for having us as guests to the event, siyabonga, lingadinwa lakusasa… Enkosi
Here’s Some of the highlights of the Event in Pictures.
